Awakening the Sublte Body
One of the most pivotal effects of Hatha Yoga is the awakening of the body’s energetic system, allowing access to higher states of awareness. Among its many transformative aspects, the activation of the bandhas, a fundamental concept in Hatha Yoga, plays a key role in directing and refining this inner energy. The term bandha, often translated as ‘lock’ or ‘seal,’ is frequently misunderstood as mere muscular contraction. In reality, bandhas are subtle, internal mechanisms that arise spontaneously as one deepens into a given practice. Rather than being consciously applied through force, they are activated naturally as the brain and nervous system align with specific yogic processes.
